France in 2100 could face increased heatwaves with temperatures exceeding 40°C annually and potentially reaching 50°C in some areas, with a ten-fold increase in heatwave days. Rainfall will see a slight increase in the northeast and a decrease in the southwest, but heavy rainfall and flood risk will increase by 15%, especially in the north. Droughts and forest fires will also become more frequent. The summer of last year saw over 3,700 deaths related to heatwaves.
